Jeg satt på golvet bare noen få meter fra scenen da Thomas Denver Jonsson gjorde sin aller
første konsert sammen med Rosie Thomas og Damien Jurado i fjor høst. Den unge svensken var 
tydelig nervøs, for noe av det første han gjorde, var å velte glasset med vann han hadde 
plassert ved sida av stolen sin. 

Thomas Denver Jonsson hadde så vidt rukket å treffe Damien og Rosie, så jeg forstår godt at 
han var litt skjelven. Mens han sang seg gjennom settet sitt, som blant annet inkluderte en 
cover av ”Raining in darling” med Bonnie ”Prince” Billy, satt Rosie Thomas litt til venstre 
for scenen og fulgte nøye med. Noen dager seinere var hun med og koret på ”First in line”, 
mens Damien Jurado spilte munnspill på beskjedent bamsevis. 

En av kveldene på turnéen var Sveriges Radio til stede og foreviget duetten. Opptaket blir 
nå gjort tilgjengelig på denne ep’en, sammen med originalversjonen av ”First in line”, 
albumsporet ”24/7”, samt akustiske utgaver av de fine, nye låtene ”The city and the outside 
world” og ”Stranger at ease”. 

Originalversjonen av ”First in line” er en countryrocker med fullt band, steelgitar og 
munnspill. Når Thomas og Rosie synger den sammen, blir den en sår pianoballade, ikke helt 
ulikt noe Maria McKee kunne ha tømt hjertet sitt utover. Thomas Denver Jonsson og Rosie 
Thomas høres ut som de har kjent hverandre hele livet. Han synger og skjelver som Neil Young 
ut av de svenske skogene, hun minner mest av alt om en ekte engel. 

Det er virkelig et øyeblikk verdt å ta vare på.

I was sitting on the floor, just a few metres from the stage where Thomas Denver Jonsson
did his first show with Rosie Thomas and Damien Jurado last autumn. The young swede was
noticable nervous, one of the first things he did was to put out his glass of water on the
stage.

Thomas Denver Jonsson had just met Damien and Rosie so I understand that he was a little
tensed. While he was singing his set, which included among others a cover of Bonnie "Prince"
Billy's "Raining in Darling", Rosie was following the show a little bit to the left afront
of the stage. Some days later she was contributing with harmony vocals on the song "first
in line", while Damien played the Harmonica.

One of the nights on the tour Swedens Radio was recording the duet and the live cut is now
available on this EP, together with the original version of "First in line", the album track
"24/7" among with the acoustic versions of the fine, new songs "The city and the outside world"
and "stranger at ease"

The original version of First in line is a country rocker featuring a full band, steel guitar
and harmonica. When Thomas and Rosie sings it together it becomes a tender piano ballad, the
kind of songs Maria McKee could have performed. Thomas Denver Jonsson and Rosie Thomas sounds
like they have known each other their whole life. He sing and trembles like a Neil Young of
the Swedish woods, she reminds most of all of an angel.

It's really a moment worth to save.
