“I’ve tried all my life, now it’s time, my moment sinks to the well. Grant me your border.” Thomas Jonsson continues his indie/folk journey with his third LP as his alias Thomas Denver Jonsson; "The Lake Acts Like an Ocean". It was released in Sweden last year but are now coming out in Europe. The album has been covered in magazines such as The Sun, The Times, Independent, Uncut and The Word. The Times mentioned Thomas as one out of six acts that is important for the Swedish pop scene (together with among others Robyn, The Hives and The Cardigans). He has previously released the two well-received albums "Hope to Her" (2003) and "Barely Touching It" (2005) featuring collaborations with Rosie Thomas, Damien Jurado, Nina Kinert and Ned Oldham. Thomas is also active in a number of projects and collaboration projects such as A Perfect Friend (experimental folk - debut album out now), Going Places (7"-label") and Deer Theatre. After a writing and recording process well over two years long, the new album "The Lake Acts Like An Ocean" is finally released by Kite Recordings. This cd - sensitively embraced by the American artist Hollis Brown Thornton's sun touched cover art – combines the Americana vein with a high dose of Swedish temperament. The new album is his most original and complex album to date spanning from solo instrumentals (Sacha Distel, The Tapdancers’ Union) and band oriented indie rock (“What I Dream”, “Saved by The Bell”) to dark folk tunes (“The Border”, “Like Friends Falling in Love”, “Possession”) , quiet hymns (“Love Campaign”, “Only For Beginners”) and soulful Americana (“One of My Blessings”, “After The Earthquake)”. The producer Carl Edlom has put rich arrangements to Thomas' close songs and words and there are duets with Jennie Stearns, Ellinor Blixt (Bobby Baby / It’s a Musical) and Elina Johansson (Dear Euphoria). With this new string of songs Thomas puts himself closer to contemporary folk artists such as South San Gabriel, My Morning Jacket, M. Ward, Bright Eyes and Cat Power rather than the classical songsmiths to whom he's previously been compared. Thomas Jonsson has made 300 shows and has toured in 15 countries. Amongst them at SXSW (Austin,US), Barfly (London, UK), Paradiso (Amsterdam, NL), Take Root Festival (Assen, NL), Eurosonic Festival (Groningen, NL), HWCH Festival (Dublin, IE) Södra Teatern (Stockholm, SE), Debaser (Stockholm, SE), Mejeriet (Lund, SE), Arvika Festival (Arvika, SE), Storsjöyran (Östersund, SE), Sintetika (Florence, IT), Arena (Vienna, AT), KULT (Varazdin, HR) and Riga New Theatre (Riga, LV). The past and ongoing touring and recording activities has build him a solid reputation to rely on, making the third album the fairest shot he has ever got to reach out to a wider audience. http://www.thomasdenver.com www.myspace.com/thomasdenverjonsson Releases: 2008 - A Perfect Friend - Graduation Day - Demos & Outtakes (selfreleased) cdr 2007 - Thomas Denver Jonsson - The Lake Acts Like an Ocean (Kite 2000) cd 2007 - A Perfect Friend - s/t (Stilll 009) cd 2005 - Thomas Denver Jonsson - Barely touching it (Kite 1080) cd 2004 - Thomas Denver Jonsson - First in line EP (Kite 1050) cdep 2003 - Thomas Denver Jonsson - Hope to her (Kite 1040) cd 2003 - Topeka Twins - I never heard her sing (Kite 1020) 7" w/ Bjorn Kleinhenz 2003 - Thomas Denver Jonsson - Then I kissed her softly (Kite 1010) 7" A PERFECT FRIEND: A Perfect Friend is currently releasing their selftitled debut album on Belgian label STILLL this summer in Europe/US/Japan/China through June and July.
