      “I'm Kingfisher, a rare bird
      nor vain, nor proud,
I just want a place to call my own.
      Underneath the humble tree
is a base for you and me, is
a base for you and me”

After touring Europe including UK and Germany late 2009, the Swedish indie-troubadour Thomas Denver Jonsson
now sets his aim for his first ever appearance on stage in Czech Republic, which will be the 17th
country he's played in since 2005. Thomas has been very cautiously about releasing new songs the last
few years but now the song Svalbard, the first sneakpeak of his forthcoming solo album ARCTIC, is available
for streaming on his website and myspace-profile. As is his contribution to the 2009 tribute compilation to
Townes Van Zandt; "Via The Great Unknown".

His latest album THE LAKE ACTS LIKE AN OCEAN (kite/shellshock) was released originally 2007 in Sweden. The
year after it was released internationally and received very good reviews, especially by UK media where he was
compared to stuff like M Ward, The National, Bonnie Prince Billy and Cat Power. The Times listed him as one of
six acts that have taken the Swedish pop scene forward since ABBA, The Word put him on their covermounted cd.
Also very good words in The Sun, Independent, Uncut, BBC6, Rock Sound, RocknReel, Americana UK and more.

His 2009 started with touring with the American pop artist Josh Rouse in Sweden, then went on with touring on
his own in Poland and Germany and during summer he was touring Sweden. Then as mentioned, followed a month-long
European tour. The shows have been consisting largely of songs from his forthcoming quirky album ARCTIC,
scheduled to be released somewhen this year. As the title hints it is a conceptual album about polar expeditions,
at the same time it's his most personal material to date. Compared to the previous catalog it'll be more edgy,
bluesy and minimalistic with the feet based in folk tradition but still with experimental and contemporary details.

Thomas Denver Jonsson managed to reach out from the Swedish underground scene to the international dito seamlessly
after the release of his debut album HOPE TO HER six years ago which displayed music in the same vein as Neil Young,
Gram Parsons and The Jayhawks. Now, he's slowly but steadily becoming slightly more and more off left-field for every
release, not at least proven by the forthcoming polar musical endeavour. With three albums out and 16 countries visited
on tour in Europe and the US, his droney twist of indie-folk-pop has got attention from many sources from the daily press,
music magazines and the more narrow indie blogs. The future album ARCTIC will feature collaborations with Keith Kennif (Helios),
Richard Neuberg (Viarosa) and Lisa Bodland-Fielding. The previous albums have been guested by people like Rosie Thomas,
Damien Jurado, Ned Oldham, Nina Kinert, Bobby Baby and Jennie Stearns.

Also hinted above, he contributed to last year's Townes Van Zandt tribute cd "Via The Great Uknown" (forthesakeofthesong)
together with people like J. Tillman, Jad Fair, Great Lake Swimmers, Be Good Tanyas, Anders Parker and more.
Thomas also co-runs the vinyl only label Going Places and is one half of the ambient indietronica duo A Perfect Friend,
whose second full-length album Timber And Modern Ways was released last year on Knoppar (debut album out on STILLL 2007)
